About us
We are the part of the drawing
nobody draws.
Architectural Systems is a manufacturers' representative. We do not make the product and we are not the installing contractor. We are the people who make sure the right system gets selected, specified, priced, submitted, delivered, and serviced — and who stay on the project long enough to answer for it.
What that actually means
Manufacturers build good products and thick catalogs. Neither one tells you whether a 750 DS will clear the joist bay over that corridor, or whether a 52 STC wall is worth the pocket depth it costs you in a room that is 40 feet wide.
That gap is the job. We carry a short line card deeply rather than a long one thinly. We are actively adding lines, and every one has to survive that test — if we cannot support it the way we support the lines we already have, we do not take it. When you call, you get someone who has solved your problem on another building, and who will tell you when the answer is that our product is the wrong one.
We work for the project. The manufacturer pays us, and we will say so plainly, but a specification written to win a single order and then fail review costs everyone more than it makes anybody.
How we work
Three commitments, and we would rather be measured against them than described by them.
Early, or it costs more
A daylighting layout is cheap in schematic design and expensive in shop drawings. We would rather give you thirty minutes for free in DD than a change order in CA.
One number, held
The budget figure we give you in design should still be recognizable at bid. If something moves it — a finish, an STC change, a support condition — we tell you when it moves, not at award.
We answer the phone after closeout
The wall gets used for twenty years. We register the warranty, keep the maintenance on a schedule, and take the call in year eight.
Who you will be working with
Small on purpose. The person who quotes your project is the person who shows up on it.
Manufacturers: we are taking on new lines
Territory coverage across the DMV and the Carolinas, a specification-driven sales model, and the service infrastructure to stand behind what we sell.
Where we are
Home office in Ashland, Virginia, with regional coverage across the DMV and the Carolinas. Close enough to be on your site the same week, which is the only radius that matters.
